Where to Eat at Baha Mar with Kids: Honest Restaurant Reviews + Tips
Marcus at Baha Mar Ceasar Salad
Baha Mar has so many restaurants to choose from. There is no way to try them all in one vacation and as a family of four (kids ages 9 and 13) that was not even close to our goal anyway. When we are on vacation we prioritize good food and drinks, atmosphere and comfort and I read lots of reviews to make sure we get just that. For us this often means doing a mixture of dining out and doing take out and we aren’t afraid to eat at a place we like more than once and our vacation at Baha Mar was no exception.
Overall Thoughts on the Food at Baha Mar
We heard mixed reviews about the food at Baha Mar leading up to our trip.
The worst review that we heard more than once was that it was expensive theme park food. Based on the food that we ate, we would not agree at all except for maybe one meal and we will get to that.
Is it expensive? Yes.
But at a luxury resort on an island where most food is imported, that’s expected. And we found the prices to be in line with other comparable island resorts.
Even with money-saving strategies, this is not a budget food destination, so it helps to plan accordingly.
Here’s where we ate, what we loved, and what we’d skip next time.
The Best Places We Ate at Baha Mar:
This was a standout for our entire family.
The kids insist these were the best chicken tenders and fries on the property, and honestly, we agree. Our personal favorite? The chicken empanadas. We ordered them more than once…sometimes twice in a day.
We also loved:
Poke bowl
Sushi
Fruit platter
Fish tacos
Salads
Drinks were a highlight here too. The lychee martini (with a whole lychee instead of an olive) was fun and memorable, and the strawberry daiquiri was excellent.
The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere, but we often ordered from our loungers at the Baha Bay Beach Club. If you want to learn more about renting loungers at Baha Bay Beach Club, you can check out our guide to Baha Mar and 3 day itinerary here.
Cost-wise, this is on the lower end for Baha Mar, and the quality makes it one of the best values on the property.
25 North Baha Mar
Chicken empanadas, one of our favorite things we ate on property.
Pizza Lab was our go-to for easy, delicious and reliable takeout.
After long days at the pool and water park, eating in our room for us just made sense, and this was an easy win. Everything we ordered was consistently good.
Our first order:
12” cheese pizza for the kids
12” Margherita pizza for us
Caesar salad
This was more than enough food for four, with leftovers. Total cost: about $82.50 after VAT and service charges.
Another night, the girls wanted the cheese pizza again and Jeff and I opted for the prosciutto and arugula sandwich plus a ceasar salad to split. Again, plenty of food and very satisfying. The total was similar to the first night we at there.
We skipped ordering drinks and used what we had in the room, which helped keep costs down.
Like 25 North, Pizza Lab sits at a lower price point for the resort and offers strong value.
To order take out at Pizza Lab, you do need to go down to the restaurant to order. They have a counter spot that handles take out. They are efficient, each time we did not wait more than 15 minutes for our food.
For a more elevated night out, we chose Marcus, and it delivered.
If we can get ocean views at a beach destination, that’s always our priority, and Marcus offers exactly that.
Reservations are strongly recommended (book early, especially during busy times, up to 90 days in advance). We ended up dining at Marcus Up Top, the bar area above the restaurant. We went early to get a drink before dinner and were offered a table. and honestly, it has some of the best views on the property. My understanding is that sometimes the full menu is not offered, but it was offered this evening.
What we ordered:
Cornbread appetizer (good, but the spiced rum butter was the real standout)
Ceasar salad
Bahamian catch (red snapper) with corn purée, succotash, and coconut reduction ($55)
Seafood peanut piccadilly (shrimp, peanut curry, fried honey lobster, pineapple over noodles) ($52)
The Bahamian Catch was a very large serving of fish and could have been split especially if a side was ordered. Both entrees were flavorful and excellent, but as usual, Jeff out ordered me with the seafood piccadilly.
The kids ordered salmon with mashed potatoes from the kids menu and enjoyed it, especially the mashed potatoes. Their entrees were good value at $15 each.
Drinks added up quickly (especially Shirley Temple refills at $8 each!), bringing our total to over $300. This was our most expensive meal, but also a really lovely night out.
Marcus at Baha Mar
Bahamian Catch - red snapper.
Good (But Not Great) Options:
Streetbird on the Beach
Streetbirds is one of the food trucks near the beach. We came here on our first day, very hungry after travel.
The chicken tenders and fries ($20) were good…but not memorable. We actually preferred the ones at 25 North and they were $15 there OR those amazing chicken empanadas (a culinary delite!) for $19.
We also tried:
Calypso (Conch) fritters (would skip next time)
“Yes, Chef” cocktail (just okay)
While pricing is lower, the value didn’t feel as strong compared to other spots on the property like 25 North.
Baha Mar Streetbirds
These chicken tenders were good not great, for better (and less expensive) chicken tenders, go to 25 North.
Where We Would Skip Next Time:
This was the one place that leaned closest to the “expensive theme park food” reputation. El Jefe is also one of the food trucks near the beach.
The burrito we tried was bland and one-note. The margarita was fine, but nothing special.
Pricing is lower, but the value just wasn’t there for us.
Where We’d Try Next Time
Barracuda (water park food truck): looked promising and more reasonably priced
Katsuya: highly recommended by friends as the best meal on the property (we skipped it this time due to lack of ocean views)
Leola: under-the-radar but consistently strong reviews
Café Madeleine: great option for pastries and a quick breakfast
Summary
Food at Baha Mar is expensive, but in most cases, the quality matches the price.
Our top picks,25 North and Pizza Lab, offered the best mix of value, flavor, and convenience. Marcus stood out for a more upscale, memorable experience.
Not every meal was a hit, but overall, we were pleasantly surprised.
If you go in with realistic expectations, mix in takeout with sit-down meals, and don’t hesitate to repeat your favorites, you can absolutely eat well at Baha Mar…and feel good about your choices!
