Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Review (2026): Is It Worth It for Families?
The Gist
If you're looking for the short version, our family loved Grand Hyatt Baha Mar.
The beach is beautiful, the waterpark is outstanding, the rooms are comfortable, and there is enough to do that our kids never once said they were bored. We would absolutely stay here again, and in fact, we already booked another stay for spring break 2027.
That said, this is an expensive resort if you're paying cash, food prices are what you would expect at a luxury resort, and chair availability at the main pools can become challenging during busy periods.

As a family of four, we're always looking for destinations that balance relaxation and fun.
We want beautiful scenery and opportunities to unwind, but we also need enough activities to keep our kids engaged.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar ended up being one of our favorite family vacations because it delivered both. We spent our days alternating between water slides, beach time, pool time, and exploring Nassau, while still finding plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy being together.
You can read all about how we structured this vacation in our Baha Mar guide + itinerary blog post.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar at a Glance
Best For:
Families with kids
Waterpark lovers
Beach lovers
Travelers using Hyatt points
May Not Be Best For:
Travelers looking for a quiet boutique resort
Those seeking an adults-only atmosphere
Budget-conscious travelers paying peak cash rates
The Rooms
We stayed in a two queen ocean view room with a balcony in the East Tower.
The first thing that stood out was how comfortable the beds were. After spending all day in the waterpark, we slept incredibly well every night.
One feature we especially appreciated was the ceiling fan. It's a small detail, but it helped keep the room cool and comfortable for sleeping.
Storage was more than adequate for our family of four. There were multiple drawers plus two smaller closets, and we had no trouble unpacking and keeping things organized.
The bathroom was spacious with:
Separate shower and soaking tub
Toilet in its own enclosed area
Double vanity
One thing worth mentioning is the bathroom design. The toilet area has a glass door that is only partially frosted. There is definitely privacy, but I was non-plussed by the glass door. It wasn't a deal breaker, but those who are particularly modest may not love it.
A pro tip many guests miss: there is a pocket-style door between the bedroom and bathroom area. We kept it closed for most of our stay, which made the layout work very well for a family. Many photos online make it look like the entire bathroom is exposed, but that simply isn't the case once that door is closed.
We experienced no maintenance issues during our stay.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping was provided daily at no additional charge.
Rooms were tidied, beds were made, and trash was emptied consistently.
There was no turndown service, but we found housekeeping to be reliable and exactly what we needed.
Nothing flashy, but no complaints either.
The Pools and Baha Bay Waterpark
If you're wondering whether the waterpark is worth the hype, our answer is a resounding yes.
I'd give Baha Bay a perfect 10 out of 10.
The rides were fun, the staff was friendly, the lines were surprisingly short, and perhaps most impressively, the entire waterpark was incredibly clean.
Honestly, I don't know how they keep it so spotless considering how much sand and foot traffic moves through the area.
Our kids were 9 and 13 during this trip and never got tired of it.
Favorite attractions included:
The water coasters
Hammerhead
The Cyclone
The lazy river
One of our favorite strategies was visiting during the final hour before closing. The lines tended to be even shorter and we were able to ride our favorites on even quicker repeat.
Favorite Pools
Dean's Blue Hole
This was probably our favorite pool area. The jumping rock and aquarium made it unique and fun.
Beach Club Infinity Pools
These offered the most spectacular ocean views on the property.
Fortune Pool
Warm water, swim-up bar, and a fun atmosphere.
Does Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Feel Crowded?
This is one of the most common questions people ask.
The honest answer is yes—and no.
We visited during spring break, and the main resort pool areas definitely became crowded by late morning. Lounge chairs were often spoken for by around 10 AM.
That said, nothing ever felt overwhelming.
We never felt like we couldn't enjoy ourselves.
The waterpark remained surprisingly manageable, and we consistently found chairs near the wave pool.
The East Tower itself never felt crowded. We rarely waited for elevators, and moving around the resort was generally easy.
The busiest time was early evening when guests were transitioning from pools to dinner. At those times, the resort felt a bit more like a bustling shopping center than a quiet resort.
The Beach
The beach exceeded our expectations.
I've visited both Aruba and Cancun, and I would put the beach at Baha Mar right alongside the beaches in front of the resorts where I've stayed in those destinations.
The water is the most beautiful shade of turquoise I have ever seen.
The sand is soft.
The water is calm and very swimmable.
There was some seaweed near the shoreline, but it was limited to a relatively narrow section that was easy to move beyond. As someone who absolutely hates walking through underwater vegetation, I found it completely manageable.
Once you moved past that area, the water was clear and beautiful.
Dining at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
We ate at:
Marcus
Pizza Lab
Streetbird
El Jefe
25° North Beach Club
Overall, I'd rate the food as good.
Not life-changing.
Not disappointing.
Exactly what I would expect from a 4.5-star resort.
Favorites
Pizza Lab became our go-to takeout option.
Marcus delivered a fun atmosphere and good food, though it was definitely expensive.
Food from 25 North was amazing at the beach club, we would eat at the restaurant anytime.

Chicken empanadas from 25 North at the Baha Bay Beach Club was one of our favorite meals
What We Missed
One of my biggest regrets was not making it to the Daiquiri Shack just outside the resort. I've heard great things and it's high on my list for our next visit.
Was the Resort Fee Worth It?
For guests paying cash rates, I actually think the resort fee is justified.
Access to Baha Bay alone provides significant value, especially for families who plan to spend multiple days there.
The included water sports equipment is another nice benefit, weather permitting.
That said, we booked on Hyatt points and therefore did not pay resort fees.
What We Loved
Incredible waterpark
Beautiful beach
Comfortable rooms
Ocean view balcony
Easy airport access
Family-friendly atmosphere
Great use of Hyatt points
Plenty to do without leaving the resort
What We Didn't Love
Food and drinks are expensive
Pool chairs can be difficult to find later in the morning
Wind sometimes limited water sports
Some guests may dislike the bathroom privacy design
What We Paid
One of the reasons this trip was possible for our family is because we used points and miles.
For flights, we redeemed American Airlines miles earned through a CitiBusiness credit card welcome bonus to book nonstop flights from Charlotte to Nassau.
For our hotel stay, we used Hyatt points to book the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. Because we booked on points, we also avoided paying resort fees, which added even more value to our redemption.
Our biggest out-of-pocket expenses were:
Food and drinks
Airport transportation
Chair rentals at the Baha Bay Beach Club
Our ocean view room upgrade
For our stay, we paid approximately $97 per night plus taxes and service charges to upgrade from a standard room to an ocean view room with a balcony. For us, this was money well spent. We used that balcony every day, whether it was enjoying coffee in the morning or a glass of wine after the kids settled in for the evening.
If we had paid cash for the flights and hotel during spring break, this trip would have cost several thousand dollars more than what we actually spent.
Using points and miles transformed this vacation from a trip we likely would have admired from afar into one of our favorite family vacations ever.
Is Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Good for Families?
Absolutely.
This is one of the best family resorts we've visited.
The combination of beach, pools, waterpark, wildlife encounters, and family-friendly dining creates an environment where both kids and adults can genuinely enjoy themselves.
Our children never once complained of being bored.
That alone says a lot.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Review
For a family of four, especially using points and miles, 9/10 for sure! Maybe 9.5/10…
Is Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Worth the Cost?
This is where my answer gets nuanced.
Would we have considered paying $700–$1,000+ per night before experiencing the resort?
Honestly, no.
That's simply outside our normal travel budget.
However, now that we've experienced it and understand how much fun we had, I could see us paying cash for a shorter stay if points were no longer an option.
The memories, convenience, and family fun were absolutely worth a premium.
Final Verdict
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar delivered one of our favorite family vacations to date.
The waterpark exceeded expectations, the beach was stunning, the rooms were comfortable, and there was enough variety that everyone found something they loved.
No resort is perfect, but Grand Hyatt Baha Mar comes very close to delivering exactly what many families are looking for: an easy, fun, beautiful vacation where both parents and kids leave happy.
And if our booking for spring break 2027 tells you anything, it's this:
We'd happily go back.
