Where To Eat In Springdale, Utah As A Family Visiting Zion National Park

Where to eat in Springdale, Utah, Zion National Park as a family

Oscar’s is where you go to get your post hike tacos!

Food matters to me on vacation. From food trucks to fancy restaurants, I am going to research to find some of the best places for us to eat when we travel. We ate pretty well while we were in Springdale, Utah visiting Zion National Park, so read on if you want to have some delicious meals while visiting this beautiful part of the world.

Something I think is important to mention is that I will be highlighting food only. We actually did not dine in at any of these restaurants because the view could NOT be beat from our hotel, the Marriott SpringHill Suites Springdale Zion National Park. So we did take out every night and ate on the patio of our hotel. This made our meals a bit more budget friendly as well as we had drinks and dessert that we kept in our room and it worked well for our east coast family that was early to rise and early to bed after a day in the park!

Our favorite place that we ate hands down was Oscar’s Cafe. I got the grilled shrimp tacos and Jeff got the grilled fish tacos. Both were great. I would tell you that I won with the grilled shrimp tacos but he was quite happy with his fish tacos. The food tasted fresh and the portions were plentiful. One of our kiddos ordered the cheese quesadilla off of the appetizer menu and it was HUGE. The kids easily could have split this. We also ordered chips and guac and while it was not the best guac I ever had, it was very good.

The next night we ate at Onyx Pizzeria. They make what you might call gourmet wood fired pizzas. This pizza dough was excellent! If you like pizza that is a little more inventive than your typical pizza, we would really recommend Onyx. Even their regular cheese pizza was unique. Jeff and I split the Calabrese and the Margherita pizzas and they were both good. I liked Margherita pizza the most. The girls split a cheese pizza and…well..let’s just say they were hoping more for a traditional pizza. If you too are looking for a more traditional pizza experience than you may want to try one of the other pizza shops in town.

Our last night in Springdale we did take out from Dulivia Ristorante Italiano. We ordered a few entrees and set them out buffet style for everyone to share. I’ll start out by saying that their bread service is phenomenal (this is a paid menu item). We got a variety of breads, including focaccia, and excellent olive oil for dipping. Everyone was a big fan of the bread, worth the extra spend. For entrees we ordered the vodka rigatoni, the lasagna, and the chicken parmesan. We enjoyed all of these dishes but the chicken parm was particularly good with the vodka rigatoni not far behind. The chicken was seasoned well for the chicken parm and the tomato sauce was excellent -just really good flavors. And with the vodka rigatoni, I particularly loved the fresh ricotta dollop - I’m not a big fan of store bought ricotta but really do enjoy freshly made and this was great.

Another great food experience we had was ice cream from Bumbleberry Gift Shop and Bakery. On an afternoon where we shopped in Springdale, we surveyed the ice cream options pretty closely and decided to go with this one and were so glad we did. The ice creams have cute local names that go with the local area…and the ice cream was good, very good. This is exactly where we would go again to have ice cream in Springdale.

On our last day in Springdale before we hit the road to Bryce Canyon we stopped at Farmstead Bakery (now operating as Bonrue Bakery) for some mid-morning treats and fun coffees. We tried the chocolate croissant, the almond croissant, the sugar cronut and a cinnamon roll. Honestly, I was underwhelmed by the croissants, but I would come back for that sugar cronut any day! The girls were also a fan of the cinnamon roll, those aren’t my jam so I can’t comment, but that cronut, delish! Coffee was pretty good too! Farmstead also has some beautiful sandwiches and while we did not try them here, we did try them at their St. George location and we would recommend them. They would be great to eat for lunch right there at the store or to pack and take into the park.

Bonrue Bakery (formerly Farmstead) has great pastries for breakfast or for a snack

You probably noticed that we don’t have breakfast or lunch commentary, this is because the Springhill Suites offered free breakfast and we had picked up groceries from Walmart in Hurricane on our way in from Vegas so that we could have lunch either in the parks or in our room. This worked really well for us logistically and of course, saved some money and time.

Fortunately in Springdale you don’t have to sacrifice good food to be near the parks like you do in some other areas (I’m looking at you Bryce Canyon). To me, it is one of the many things I loved about Springdale and Zion National Park and one of the many reasons I can’t wait to go back!
